Der Mauererknoten eignet sich für die Befestigung an Bäumen oder zum Schleppen von Balken und Stämmen mit einem Seil. Er ist eine zulaufende Schlinge und hält nur unter Zug. Der Knoten wird auch Zimmermannsstek genannt.
Instructions
Pass the rope once around the tree (possibly attach a tree protection before!).

Form a loop around the rope, make sure that the loop is not "under tension".

Wrap the end of the rope in the opposite direction than in step 1 around the rope. You must wrap more than half of the tree. At the end you should leave at least 20cm of rope in front and secure the end with a normal knot ("Grossmüeti").

The hauling rope should run as straight as possible out of the knot, otherwise the knot can slip and thus lose tension.
