Short explanation
We have planned the Escape Room so that small kids (7-10) can solve it in about 45min and big kids and teens (11-15) can solve it in about 30min.
Since you should not lock children in, we built the Escape Room in such a way that the exit door was a magic door that can only be opened when a sentence is said. This sentence we then hid in a safe with a combination lock. It is very suitable for the sentence the Cevi, BESJ or local group motto.
Then we created 4 puzzles where they then got a number at the end of each puzzle, which they then had to enter at the safe at the end. The best is a combination lock where the order does not matter, otherwise you would still have to mark the number sequence somehow.
The puzzles
General
We have various parts from the different puzzles completely distributed and hidden in the room. Likewise, of course, it is also possible to hide parts in boxes from other puzzles.
1. puzzle
On a bathroom mirror in the room, we wrote the beginning of a dialect song in lipstick. Likewise, we drew some notes all around it. The children then had to use the Discman to find the right song in the many CD's. The track number was then the first number.
To help, we only filled two of the 30 CD cases with CD's. Likewise, 27 CD's were in English and only 3 were in dialect so they could find the CD faster. Of advantage, the CD also has the song lyrics in a booklet with it in case they can't find all the parts from the Discman.
2. Riddle
The kids had to find a UV lamp to find a number which we wrote down with UV pen/color before. This was already the 2nd number
But the flashlight was not directly accessible, so we have attached to a bike lock, a key that fit to a bike lock, which in turn was the key for a Kässeli. This box was of course attached somewhere, so that one could not simply carry it to the bicycle lock. In the box were the keys for another box and in there was the UV lamp and headphones for the Discman. The key for the first bike lock was hidden somewhere in the room
3. Puzzle
There is a tube attached to the wall which has a cork inside. As soon as the children pour water into the tube the cork starts to rise. The cork then has the next number written on it.
We've already put 3 PET bottles in the room so the kids don't raid a faucet and then everything is completely wet. Remember to secure the tube so it doesn't tip over, but you can still remove it to empty it out.
4. Puzzle
There are puzzle pieces hidden all over the room. On the front is a hidden object picture with like 9 props. On the back of the puzzle it says to count all the props in the picture. This would be the last number.
The puzzle pieces were hidden completely free and could be reached without a key.
Important
You also need a way to see the children in the room and to communicate. If you have wifi, this can be done great via video telephony. Otherwise, GoPro are not bad because you can connect the phone via Wi-Fi. For the communication you need radios. Help the kids only if they get stuck or the time runs out slowly. Encourages rather times with small tips so that they themselves have the success
