Soap bubble mixture

What child doesn't love bubbles? For the next bubble competition, here are recipes for the bubble mixture and instructions for making the ring.

Recipe 1:

• dissolve 500 g sugar in a little boiling water, leave to cool.
• mix in 25 g Glutolin wallpaper paste (available from chemists) and 1/2 liquid, natural soap (e.g. Held).
• leave the mixture to stand for 2-3 days
• dilute with approx. 8 liters of water before use

Recipe 2:

• 1/3 liter liquid soap, 1/2 dl
• Glycerine
• mix 2/3 liter warm water together
• dilute with hot water until the desired consistency is achieved

Bubble ring

Materials:

• Galvanized iron wire, yarn, wooden stick, saw, fine drill,
• Wire cutters

Instructions:

1. Saw the wooden stick to a length of 15 - 20 cm

2. Drill a hole through the wooden stick from the side using the drill.

3. Cut a piece of wire and push it through the hole. Twist the wire tightly in front of the wood.

4. Now wrap the ring tightly with yarn.

5. The size of the ring depends on the size of the container in which you have the soap suds. Flower plates into which you can pour the suds and into which you can also place the ring are well suited.

As soon as everyone has their ring, the competition can begin. Who can make the biggest or longest soap bubbles? All you have to do is dip the ring in the lye. Then carefully pull the ring through the air and the bubbles will fly through the air!

Soap bubble pictures

Making bubble pictures is a fun but sticky activity for indoors.

First you make a soap bubble solution. This is then poured into different containers about 10 cm high (lye: approx. 2 cm high). Now color the lye in each container with food coloring, color powder or watercolor from the tube in different colors

Now cut out ordinary white paper. It must not be larger than the containers!

The children can now blow into the colored lye with drinking straws, so hard that the whole container is filled with soap bubbles. The bubbles should not be too fine (=foam), but rather somewhat larger. When the container is full of bubbles, immediately and carefully place a leaf on the bubbles. These will burst and leave their mark on the leaf. Remove the sheet immediately before it sinks into the lye! If there is still a bubble on the paper, wait until it has burst and dried out a little before continuing. The whole process can be repeated as often as you like until the whole sheet is covered in bubble prints! Different colors can also be applied to the same sheet one after the other. It is important that the sheet is not placed on foam or even on the lye. This would not leave any marks and the sheet would simply soak up the paint.
