Off-road games weekend: Meh Dräck

What started out as a simple idea after a Sunday church service by three youth hostel freaks has taken on unexpected dimensions. But first things first ...

The idea

During the bi-weekly Jungschi sessions, we always come up with games that we would like to take part in ourselves, which gave us the idea of planning an action weekend just for leaders. On such a weekend, everything that is fun should not be neglected and the participants should realize where their personal limits lie.

But it was also important for us to experience something with like-minded people, i.e. other leaders. A suitable name for the project was quickly found: "Meh Dräck".

Preparation

That Sunday afternoon, we planned the 36 hours of the "Meh Dräck" event. You could only register for this event as a team of two, as moral support if the going got tough.

It starts

It starts to rain at eight o'clock sharp. The weather couldn't be better! The numerous participants who have registered for the "Meh Dräck" event have no idea what is in store for them over the next few hours.

36 hours of pure action

09:00
Meeting point at the train station in Stäfa. The teams of two are drawn into larger groups. On the way to the next meeting point, the group is given its first tasks. For example, to knit a scarf within the next 36 hours.

10:00
Orientation about the whole event, gathering materials, designing the group flag and introducing group names. From now on, all groups must report to the game leader every two hours.

12:00
At the edge of the forest, each group sets up its bivouac and hides its flag in the forest. A "Capture the Flag" game now runs alongside the official program until dinner.

14:00
Additional off-road game

16:00
Each group must bring a drinkable tea made from forest herbs for the game leader to taste.

18:00
Dinner arrives: freshly caught whitefish from a professional fisherman from Lake Zurich.

20:00 Night game

22:00
Finally time to rest.

04:00
Get up and clear the bivouac without leaving a trace.

06:00
Breakfast with croissants, coffee or Ovi. The groups must return their equipment clean.

08:00
Walk to the town of Rapperswil, 10 km away

10:00
Photo orienteering in Rapperswil

12:00
Lunch or eat at McDonald's before we walk the last 4 km to Alpamare in Pfäffikon SZ

13:00
Tired but overjoyed, we sink into the waters of Alpamare

17:00
Return journey to the starting point

18:00
Dinner together in clean clothes

19:00
Flashback with the film, which was shot and edited continuously, followed by the ranking announcement of the various disciplines.

21:00
Joint conclusion and journey home.
