children|mission|day

Scenes, messages, action, atmosphere... This year, for the umpteenth time, Wiedenest is hosting KiMi-Tag (Kindermission v KinderMitmach), a day full of experiences for young school children in September.

In any case, I had the opportunity to participate as a helper on 3 occasions between 2011 and 2014. I think it is a great idea and initiative that children's hour Sunday school groups from the neighbourhood (and further afield) get together and experience a very varied and creative programme with hundreds of children of similar age. Nearly 40 (skill/fun/creative) play stations await adventurous children and missionary impulses are not lacking in keeping with good tradition. Even children can be missionaries, witnesses of God's love..

In recent years, the number of participants has varied between 200 and 400 children and 100-200 support staff. In the light of social and demographic changes, this great hunger and openness for good is all the more inspiring.

A taste of this year's preparations: 'In search of the lost prince (Moses) - with detective Cunning and Professor Flux'. The main hall will be decorated in the Egyptian style, a time machine will be built, the colouring group will be creative, and there will be a field game this year.

It is a prayer that the different groups will have an enjoyable and blessed time, and that the staff who work with them will be able to take advantage of this special day with each other.

Previous themes:

- A kingdom for a servant? (knights, castles... just or cruel king?)

- 330 minutes around the world - mission, cultures and nations

- Mobbing, true friendship, otherness (migration and refugees)

- Cowboys and Indians

Our children's workers report from the children's mission day last Saturday in Wiedenest: "Together with a total of ca. 450 participants + staff we went on a journey back in time to ancient Egypt, where the youth and children's groups had the opportunity to experience adventures, play, sing and laugh together. Afterwards, a mother and carer of one group had tears in her eyes in gratitude for all the new thoughts her group had been able to take away with them. The BTA students and many spontaneous volunteers as well as heart workers, together with the preparation team, put in a lot of heart, sweat and creativity and we are grateful for the preservation during the games and the incredibly good weather." Thanks for all the prayers!
