Creatively relive the creation story and gain a deeper understanding of creation.

Information

Age: 12-99 years old

Number: 6-20

Duration: 120 minutes

Terrain: soft surface

Type: expression

Intensity: quiet

Material

Large amounts of WKM (=valuable free material such as butter tubs WC rolls, scraps of wool...)

Game Explanation

A man (or woman) in sleepwear lies asleep on a mat and begins to toss and turn. Upon waking up, he lights a candle and tells about the dream he just dreamt. He asks the participants to help reconstruct the dream and so, step by step, the creation story is reenacted.

Objective:
To get a deeper view of creation story

Explanation:
First place black plastic (e.g. agricultural film) against the wall starting from the ground up to a good meter high, which will later serve as a dark sky and possibly a piece of plastic on the ground in front of the wall to which the black plastic was attached.

  • First awakening: memory of a sky lit up with beautiful things: a sun, the moon, many stars... After telling the story, the sleeper lies back down and the participants start making sun, moon and stars all this with WKM. When everything is ready (fifteen minutes maximum) everything is stuck against the plasti, the light is turned off and everyone takes a seat in front of the artwork.
  • Second time: dream about landscape with mountains and valleys, green meadows, beaches, the sea... Now these things are made on the ground in front of the black plastic. Note no form of life yet. (about 20 min)
  • Third time: dream about animals walking, flying, swimming... All those things are made (again WKM) and placed against the sky or in the landscape or on the water. Note no human activity. (about 20 min)
  • Fourth time: dream about man and his activities... Make with WKM and place. (about 20 min) Now tea lights are placed all over the landscape (best in glass jars so as not to cause a fire) and all lights are extinguished. Then the creation story is read aloud Gen 1: 1-2,4a.

If desired, an exchange about the experience can follow afterwards: did you know beforehand that this story would come out? What does this story tell us now?
