Bye for now

A funny farewell ritual in Swiss dialect, similar to ‘Tschieiei’.

How is it done?

Everyone stands in a circle. Place your right foot in front of the left leg of the person on your right, and your left foot behind the right leg of the person on your left. Place your arms on the shoulders of the people on your left and right.

Then you start singing. Whilst singing, everyone moves their upper body from side to side. You always start by moving to the right.

During the ‘Tschau! Tschau! ’ bit, everyone leans inwards twice. In our youth group, it’s become a tradition for us to push each other’s heads down for a laugh.

We usually do the ‘Tschau zämma’ twice. Once nice and slowly. The second time really quickly.

Text

Bye for now, bye for now, goodbye everyone!
Bye for now, bye for now, bye everyone!
Bye everyone, bye everyone, bye to you all!
The party’s over, unfortunately! Bye! Bye!
Bye everyone, bye everyone, bye to you all! Bye! Bye!
Bye everyone, have a safe journey home!
