Bookmark from drinking straws

Submitted by bafrog on

A simple little craft. A bookmark is melted together from 5 drinking straws.

Materials/Tools Needed

  • 4-5 drinking straws per bookmark
  • Baking paper
  • Büiron with Bügel board
  • thick book
  • Scissors

Possibly additional: punch pliers, cord

Instructions

* Trim 4-5 drinking straws below the "kink" with scissors.
* Place drinking straws side by side on a layer of baking paper and cover with another layer of baking paper.
* Iron over for about a minute on a high setting.
* Quickly place the now flat drinking straw baking paper package in a thick book and press (without this process, the bookmark would bulge).
* Depending on personal taste, cut bookmark neatly, make a hole (hole punch) and pull a small cord (10 cm) into the hole and knot it (see cover picture).

Safety advice

It is not safe to handle a hot iron. With younger children, a leader should in any case take over the Bügelvorgang ü
