How to make a spear that matches the Roman cladding.

Material

  • Wooden slats
  • 3-layer boards or Pawatex boards (box back panels)
  • Hammered cord
  • Glue
  • small nails
  • Hammer
  • Saw (jigsaw and handsaw)
  • Silver spray
  • Rasp and file

Manufacture

  • Saw off the wooden slats to the correct length.
  • Saw out spearheads from the 3-layer boards or pavatex boards and spray them with silver spray.
  • Saw a cut at one end of the slat for the spearhead.
  • Caution, this process is quite dangerous as you have to saw against your hand and may only be carried out by an experienced leader!
  • Insert the spearhead into the slot and secure it with the small nails.
  • Wrap the cord around the batten under the spearhead and glue it in place.
  • Optionally, the handle or the whole pole can be rounded off with a file and rasp.
