30 Years Jungschar Rüti

The anniversary celebration is a good opportunity to come out to the public, but also just to thank God for his faithfulness and preservation thought the now active leaders.

Extensive preparations

Planning for the event began several months beforehand, but many clarifications still had to be made. First, a basic concept was drawn up. Who do you want to address with this festival? Where should it take place? How much money and how much capacity of the leaders is available? One wanted to organize a festival that is extraordinary, but does not go beyond the scope of possibilities and end in a big frustration.

It was very soon agreed that this celebration should consist of an event for the population of Rüti, an evening event for all former Jungschar participants and a church service for the affiliated churches. The three events were prepared by three different groups. An organizing committee kept the overview and took over the coordination between the groups

Funkpark for the public

The anniversary events began with a large fun park on a central meadow in Rüti. Throughout the day, children young and old could enjoy various attractions. For example, the older ones had fun building a race tower, while the little ones enjoyed themselves in the petting zoo or making soap bubbles. A highlight was the "Velcro wall", where the children had to slip into a special suit and then jump up into the air and stick to the wall. But also the Jungscharkino, where you could watch clips from past afternoons and camps, was very popular. A balloon competition and a big trampoline were further attractions

In addition, parents could try their luck at a raffle and everyone who felt hungry had the opportunity to roast their sausage at a real campfire. Of course, the typical Jungschart activities such as zip line and rope bridge were not to be missed. "This is how it should be every Jungschar afternoon," said one Jungschärler, overwhelmed by all the attractions

Evening event for all alumni

In the evening, the former Jungschar participants met for a colorful evening program. So some saw each other again after a long time and could reminisce. Former Jungschar leaders told about the beginnings of Jungschar Rüti, and a slide show impressively showed the history of Jungschar Rüti during three decades.

All those interested could watch old videos of camps and group books.

For this evening, according to the 30th anniversary of the Jungschar, a 30 meter long sandwich was prepared. However, the guests did not manage to eat all of this sandwich, so each guest was able to take home a few more inches of the original 30 yards. Everyone was also allowed to write their wishes for the future of the Jungschar Rüti on a large cloth, which will be hung up in the Jungschar room as a memento of this anniversary

Worship service for the congregations

The conclusion of the anniversary was a worship service on Sunday morning. The sermon was preached by a former Jungschar participant who is currently attending Preacher's School at St. Chrischona. It was pointed out to everyone that this long existence of the Jungschar Rüti without serious accidents is a gift from God. Likewise this service offered the opportunity to thank God for His faithfulness. May God continue to accompany the Jungschar Rüti for the next 30 years and continue His work, which He began in Rüti.
