Rocket prayer

A creative form of prayer in which everyone joins in and has fun

Prayer

Prayer is talking to God.

Many children and even adults find it difficult to pray aloud in a group.

With this form of prayer, inhibitions can be broken down.

Encourage the children to say something, even if it is very brief or a repetition. Also bring a few examples (e.g. thank you for the nice weather / the Zvieri etc)

How it works

  • set up in a circle
  • determines who will begin
  • the first one says their prayer out loud (briefly!) and then holds their arm out to the center of the circle. The hand as a fist with the thumb up
  • Then the next person prays and then also holds their fist in the center, clasping the thumb of the first person
  • Little by little, the rocket grows
  • the first person may have to kneel - it depends on the number of people
  • Once the last prayer is said, the rocket is ignited with a countdown and the intentions are shot into space :-)

Side effects

It may be that this form of prayer leads to laughter and the rocket becomes very crooked :-)
