Make miniature match-powered rockets with just a few household items!

Things You Will Need

  • Scissors
  • Matches
  • A candle
  • Tin foil
  • A wooden skewer

Cut the Head Off the Match

Place the Match and Match Head on Foil As Shown

Fold the End of the Foil Round Tightly Round the Match

Roll The Foil Round the Match

Flatten the End of the Foil Tube

Fold the Flattened End Back Over the Match

Remove the Match From the Rocket

Insert the Sharp End of the Skewer

Light Your Candle

Firing Your Rocket

Hold the end of the rocket (containing the match head) over the flame of the candle. Point the rocket at an angle.

Make sure no-one is stood in the direction the rocket will fire - these little rockets can fly several meters.
