Create plaster masks

Submitted by Ramba on

Plaster masks can be used for a theater or as decoration. Find out how to make them here.

Material

 • Gypsum bandages
 • Bowl of water
 • Levea cream or otherwise a greasy cream
 • Paint/acrylic paint
 • possibly some spray paint

Process

Either outside on the floor or cover the floor with plastic.

Cut the plaster bandages into large and small pieces - best in a kettle/container.

In partner work: Someone creams their face very very well with Nivea cream (also eyebrows and at the hairline) - you can also cover the hairline and eyes with cling film for safety.

The second person takes a plaster binder puts it in a bowl filled with water and puts it on the face and so on (a plaster mask needs about 4 layers).
Caution:Leave nostrils free!!!

When the face mask is dry, the person can try to make grimaces under the mask so that it slowly comes off.

Finished: Now you can let it dry for a short time and paint it. With gouache, I would paint it when it is completely dry (takes a few days to dry). With acrylic paint, this is not necessary.

When cleaning up, don't pour the plaster water into the sink (the plaster settles) but outside into the bushes.
