Seefahrer Lied (Christian version to the melody "The Wellerman")

Submitted by Glüehwürmli on

We wrote new lyrics to the tune of "The Wellerman" for our seafaring camp. The song was very well received. You can simply keep time with a drum or tap your fists on the table regularly.

Str. 1

Once upon a time there was a ship at sea, the whole crew shouted "Juhee"

The waves are rolling back and forth, we are at sea!

Refrain

We are the ship's crew that can do anything with God's help.

We will be victorious, for through Jesus you will be clean.

Str. 2

The storm is raging today, the spray is splashing us all wet.

But we'll still get ashore safely, because God has everything in his hands!

(Ref)

Str. 3

Victory doesn't just mean winning, it means bringing God's love,

treat everyone well, just like Jesus did.

(Ref)

Have fun with this funny song :-)

If you want to use it on the theme of Noah, Jonah, Paul or a missionary (we had John Paton) or something like that, it's certainly worth writing a suitable verse to emphasize your main camp message. Songs are sooo much easier to remember than devotional applications, so it's worth investing a little more time in writing them so that good biblical truths are incorporated into the song and get into the children's hearts.
